Cannabinoids Block Covid!
New Research Shows That Two Cannabinoid Acids Can Prevent Coronavirus from Entering Human Cells
By now you’ve probably heard that cannabinoids can block Covid-19!
Now before you rush to spark up, there is a caveat. Let me explain.
According to a recent study conducted by Oregon State University, it’s two cannabinoid acids—CBGa and CBDa—that have shown promise in blocking the virus from entering cells.
The good news? These cannabinoid acids are not (yet) controlled substances like THC!! And they are both abundantly available in hemp AND cannabis.
But there is a catch! 🛑 You don’t get cannabinoid acids from smoking, or even heating, your cannabis or hemp.
That actually destroys any cannabinoid acids present in your flower via a process called decarboxylation—or “decarbing.”
I explain all of this in my new ebook: The Ultimate Guide to Cannabinoids!
But to quickly break it down: when cannabinoids are born, they all start out as CBGa or cannabigerolic acid. The Mother Cannabinoid!
From there, CBGa can become three other cannabinoid acids: CBCa, CBDa, or THCa.
These cannabinoid acids are present in the flower when you buy it.
So you’re technically not holding THC or CBD in your hand, but THCa and CBDa.
It isn’t until you heat your flower that these cannabinoids acids convert to the cannabinoids you know & love: THC & CBD.
See? 👇
So the trick for blocking Coronavirus is extracting these cannabinoids acids, without heating the plant material!
Sadly, this not only precludes smoking & vaping, but also most edibles as heating the flower (decarbing) is usually part of the process of making edibles.
Therefore, the best way to get these two Covid-blocking cannabinoids may be through hemp or cannabis extracts, oils, or tinctures.
But be careful! You not only want to ensure the extracts haven’t been heated: you also want to ensure they’re manufactured using clean plant material, by a reputable company.
*ahem* No gas station hemp oils, okay?!
So while it’s unfortunate that we can’t get the Covid-blocking benefits from sparking up, the exciting thing is that now is the perfect time to expand your horizons beyond THC.
And this just may be the thing that encourages more research on lesser-known cannabinoids and their yet-to-be-discovered super powers. ✨
