Myth Busted: "Smoking Weed Is Bad For You"
Time to Debunk The Anti-Smoking Rhetoric—There Are Proven Medicinal Benefits to Smoking (Quality) Weed!
Goodness the misinformation that’s happening in 2022 is incredible. 🙃
Time to debunk this video posted on @hollywoodunlocked.
We have to combat the generations of mass programming about a plant and actually look at the facts.
He opens the video by stating: “Smoking weed is unhealthy, even if you grow it yourself.”
A bold, and unsubstantiated claim! But let’s keep going…
He continues, “Smoking anything causes acid in the lungs, which is damaging your respiratory system.”
This ignores that there are documented & time-tested medicinal benefits to smoking weed—and inhaling healing herbs generally.
Inhaling herbs has roots in ancient indigenous practices, and some modern Western medicines (i.e. inhalers) are inspired by that!
Yet in my humble opinion, inhalers still can’t compete with what nature already perfected. As a person with asthma, smoking cannabis regularly means I don’t even need my inhaler.
And while that’s just my story, cannabis has a long history as a healing herb for those with asthma.
Cannabis used to be sold as asthma cigarettes because it is known to have anti-inflammatory properties & acts as a bronchodilator—meaning it relaxes the muscles in the lungs and opens up the airways.
We all know that smoking cigarettes causes cancer, and over time this has evolved into the belief that smoking anything causing cancer.
But what isn’t discussed enough is that corporate tobacco cigarettes are so cancerous because they’re grown in radioactive soil.
And inhaling anything radioactive is obviously going to cause problems.
He closes out the video with this: “95% of the weed y’all smoking is grown with dangerous ingredients to make it grow 6x faster. You thought they just made it legal to help you out? Nah, they’re getting that money!”
First of all, the “ingredients” aren’t making the cannabis grow faster, all plants need food (nutrients) to grow.
What is making it grow faster is that it’s being cultivated in a controlled environment with set light schedules. The amount of light exposure means you can make it grow as fast as you want!
However, he does make a great point, which is that there are tons of corporate cannabis companies that are just here for the money. And I wouldn’t use their cannabis because it probably is poison.
But there’s a huge legacy market that has been around that grows healthy cannabis for sick people.
That’s actually how cannabis became legal in the first place—because the government underestimated sick people rallying together to get their medicine.
The topic of smoking anything is controversial these days, but I say ask a chemotherapy patient who can’t keep anything down, but cannabis helps them to eat.
There are medicinal benefits. Period.
And while there are always risks, it’s about making smart choices to minimize those risks.
The solution? Buy quality cannabis from reputable, legacy growers. Smoke with intention. Listen to your body.
((And that also means sourcing quality joint papers and blunt wrappers, using hemp wicks instead of butane lighters, etc etc.))
The Reefer Madness I’ve been witnessing lately is incredible, but please remember that kale was once but a garnish!
The tide will turn, and this plant will be respected. 🙏🏽 #waitforit
