Reefer Madness Is Back

Propaganda Isn’t New, But Is It Getting Worse? Laura Ingraham Is Bringing Back Some Classic Anti-Cannabis Rhetoric

Big news in the cannabis industry—Reefer Madness is back.

In case you’re not familiar, Reefer Madness was a 1936 anti-cannabis propaganda film in which some high school students try cannabis, and immediately become addicted.

Their addiction then drives them to commit a series of violent crimes.

This rhetoric about weed is not new! And sadly, it’s being recycled in the news these past few weeks.

As we’re trying to wrap our heads around the Uvalde Massacre, politicians & media personalities are trying to find something to blame outside the obvious.

Enter Laura Ingraham.

In The Angle on FOX News, she reported that the shooter was allegedly a pot user, and that his mother & grandmother didn’t want him to use marijuana.

Her source was a New York Times article which later removed these statements.

She continues, posing this question: “Why aren’t people in general talking more about the pot-psychosis-violent behavior connection?”

SMH. Because Laura Ingraham, Reefer Madness wasn’t a documentary based on any sort of facts.

It was made to be an entertaining piece of propaganda.

Unfortunately, this isn’t going to be the only play in their playbook.

My prediction is that next they’ll be connecting cannabis to Communism, and a slew of other ridiculous ideas.

Our time to fight is now!
